Introduction: Quartz is the most common mineral composed by SiO2 only in the nature. There are two kinds of quartz: low-temperature quartz (¦Á quartz) and high-temperature quartz (¦Â quartz). The most common ones are low-temperature quartz, and referred to as quartz. It appears rhombohedron, hexagonal column, trigonal dipyramidal and trigonal trapezohedron. The color is colorless or milky white, and with impurities, it will have different colors. No cleavage, conchoidal fracture, oily luster; hardness: 7, density: 2.65g /cm 3. There are often solid, liquid and gas inclusion in the quartz. Quartz sand is the name of a kind of mineral which includes various kinds of quartz. Glass quartz sand refers to the nature mineral or rock debris whose composition and granularity meet the requirement of glass industry. The main composition of the mineral is quartz; the secondary mineral includes all kinds of feldspars, rock debris, heavy mineral (garnet, tourmaline, pyroxene, hornblende, refined stone, topaz, epidote, ilmenite and so on), mica, chlorite, clay mineral and so on. Quartz sand ore can be divided into quartz sand, feldspar clay quartz sand, feldspar quartz sand and are referred to as sand ore; quartz sandstone, quartzite and vein quartz are generally referred to as ore rocks. Application: Quartz sand is a kind of important industrial raw material, and widely used in glass, cast, ceramics, refractory material, metallurgy, building, chemical industry, plastics, rubber, abrasive material and other industry. Glass: plate glass, float glass, glass products (glass tube, glass bottle, glass jar), optical glass, glass fiber, glass apparatus, conductive glass, glass cloth, anti-radiative glass and ceramics, refractory material, preform body and glaze of porcelain, high silicon bricks used for kiln, raw material of ordinary silicon bricks and carborundum bricks and so on. Metallurgy: raw material, additive and flux used for silicon metal, ferrosilicon and silumin. Building: concrete, binding material, road material, artificial marble, testing material for physical property of cement (that is cement standard sand). Chemical industry: raw material of silicon compound and sodium glass, filling material of sulfuric acid tower, amorphous silica dioxide and micro powder. Machinery: main raw material of foundry sand, abrasive material (sand blast, hard abrasive paper, abrasive paper, abrasive cloth and so on). Electronics: high strength metal silicon, optical fiber for communication, rubber, plastics (improve the abrasion performance) . Dope: filling material (improve the weathering ability).
